We humans no longer need that much hair to keep us warm. But evolution is a little slow on the uptake, and a lot of people are hairy in places where they don’t want to be. A little chest hair in men may be sexy, but overabundance is not (remember Austin Powers?), and neither is back hair. For women — wow, where does one start? Society has somehow dictated that the only acceptable places for profuse hair are the scalp and eyelids. Eyebrows and pubes are still okay, for now, but only when kept at a minimum. Options that give temporary solutions abound, such as razors, waxes, and creams.
If you’re longing for a solution that’s more permanent than a shave, then perhaps laser hair removal is for you. Laser equipment specially made for depilation use the light from a laser to selectively targets dark pigments in the skin, like melanin, which is found in the hair, and heats them up. These dark pigments absorb all that powerful heat and energy from the laser, damaging the hair follicle and preventing it from growing any more hair.
